The Super Falcons of Nigeria have ended 2024 as the top ranked women's team in Africa, according to the latest FIFA rankings. Ranked 36th globally, the nine time African champions outpaced reigning WAFCON champions South Africa, who are 53rd in the world. Morocco, Zambia, Ghana, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire followed as the continent’s other top teams.

The Falcons are also finalists for the Women’s National Team of the Year award at the CAF Awards, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco. As one of the favourites for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON, the team is drawn in the first round against Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana in the 12-team championship scheduled for July in Morocco.
