One of my favorite weekend rituals is walking through the city's vintage market. Portobello Road always tops my list, not just due to its vibrant chaos, but for the sheer variety. You can find everything, from mid-century homeware to enamel kitchen tins for the kitchen and classic vinyl records still alive. I've lost track of how many times I've left with "just one small gift" and it turned into a sack full of treasures.

I love going to Shoreditch or Islington for something more carefully curated. These neighbourhoods are home to boutique vintage stores that specialize in specific eras- an example of a 1970s lighting shop here and a shop devoted to 1940s fashion there.
